The Winthrop Improvement and Historical Association (WIHA) is dedicated to preserving and maintaining the first period colonial Deane Winthrop House, its property, and collections. As responsible stewards since 1903, WIHA is committed to the educational enrichment of its members and visitors, upholding a longstanding promise to the Winthrop, MA community and the general public.
🎉A New Season at WIHA Starts October 6!
WIHA Membership Meeting & Dinner Tuesday, October 6, 2026, 6:15 sharp Deane Winthrop House & Barn
We’re kicking off our 2026–2027 season, and we hope you’ll join us for a fun and relaxed evening at the Deane Winthrop House & Barn!
This night is about bringing our membership together — meeting our Interim President, Bil Veiga, catching up with old friends and new, enjoying a delicious dinner, having a little fun, and talking about everything happening at WIHA.
There will be trivia, prizes, our 50/50 raffle, and plenty of time to eat, laugh and socialize.
And somewhere in between all of that, we’ll even squeeze in a little WIHA business. We were unable to hold our regularly scheduled Annual Meeting this past March because of weather, so our October 6 gathering will serve as 2026’s WIHA’s Annual Meeting.
We’ll take care of the necessary organizational business, provide some important updates, and give members an opportunity to ask questions and participate.
But we promise — the business portion won’t be the whole evening!
This is first and foremost a chance to get together, enjoy dinner, reconnect and start another great season at WIHA.
TWO IMPORTANT PIECES OF BUSINESS
As part of our Annual Meeting, members will be invited to vote on a proposed amendments to WIHA’s bylaws:
1) The first proposal would change the current fixed quorum requirement (the number of Board members required to be present at a Board meeting to legally make changes) from 11 Board members voting at a Board meeting to a quorum based on a majority of the current Board membership (50% of the Board membership plus one).
This change is intended to allow the quorum requirement to adjust as the size of the Board changes.
2) The second proposal will suggest that we officially name of the Barn, the Hubbard Barn in honor of Dave,
The full proposed amendments will be available for member review and discussion at the October 6 meeting.

Dinner will be chicken parm and meatballs from Kelley Square Pub. We want to make sure there’s plenty of food and seating, so please let us know that you’ll be joining us!.
